Calgary Filipino Basketball Leagues

The Calgary Filipino Community has 2 very active basketball leagues, Calgary Filipino Basketball Association (CFBA) and the Calgary Friendship League (CFL). They are run through association volunteers, sponsors and community support. Games are held on weekends in either the SW on 17th, or in the NE at the Calgary Soccer Complex.
Last Saturday, Calgary Filipino went to watch a couple of Calgary Friendship League games. The games are fun to watch and all players and volunteers seem to always have an enjoyable time.

Kabayan ask ko lang po kung open po sa lahat ang maglaro tuwing weekend.Bago lang po ako dito Canada Gusto ko lng po may mapaglibangan at may makilala. hope somebody will help me. Thanks po sa lahat and God bless us all.

Kamusta kayong mga kababayan?
I just arrived from Manila two weekends ago.
Naghahanap sana ako ng mga kalaro ng basketball dito sa Calgary habang nandito ako.
Is there anything like a weekly casual basketball event for Pinoys?
Sana meron kasi I usually play every Sunday back home.

I am moving to Calgary in July. I grew up in Toronto and played in the leagues (FilAct, PhilCan) and the Tourneys (NABA, PIBNA) quite often. Moved to Florida and played there for the last 5 years withFBL-ORLANDO. Played for Orlando over these years at PIBNA, NABA and the Asian Tourney in Atlanta. I heard a lot about the competition out here and would like to be a part of it. I have already committed to play with Orlando at the PIBNA tourney in Jax, FL, but I am looking to run in the Calgary or even Edmonton leagues. Does anyone know of who I may be able to contact about either coming to an open run, or even just watching a few games??

I am very proud to announce that a team of PBA ALL STARs are coming to play in Calgary, Jack Sympson Gym, on November 1, 2009. The like of Alvin Patrimonio, Jerry Codinera, Johnny Abbarientos, Noli Locsin, Vergel Meneses, Jun Limpot among others.They will be playing against a selected Calgary’s Best.
